This gentle fellow is the most intelligent kitty my wife and I have ever had and we
will tell you much more about him and his feisty brother Andy
after we document how we helped him recover from feline distemper. Due to a traumatic
event in his life when I saved the mother and kittens cornered by a hungry opposum
Timmy, who has an incredible memory, could not be put into a carrier and taken to
a vet for his shots without a terrific struggle which convinced us that even
temporary confinement could only worsen his phobia. While he was still a baby he
made his only trip to the vet to be neutered.
One day at the age of three Timmy stopped drinking water and eating. Search on Google diagnosed his condition, and we developed a strategy to nurse Timmy at home. We substituted intravenous fluids with food and fluids down his throat and the results were almost immediately noticeable. We mixed cat food and milk into a smooth fluid mixture, wrapped a towel around Timmy's front legs and stood him upright between our legs while kneeling on the floor, and held his head up while gently easing a tube past his teeth and squirted gulp size portions deep into his mouth giving him time to swallow. To be continued . . . . If you have specific questions between the updates please write. Timmy Pribich
